Jump Right In played at The Man of Kent Beer Festival, East Peckham, Kent.
The iconic Man of Kent is going from strength-to-strength, since recently reopening and being reinvigorated as a destination pub, and so what’s next? …a beer festival! The riverside gardens are the perfect place for a Bank Holiday drink and a bite to eat followed by some live music.
With Geoff and Steve being away, we had to get a couple of Deps in, so Jump Right In lined up with Neil Rigby (vocals / guitar), David Lofts (vocals / guitar), Alan Testot-Newick (drums) and Graham Veryard (bass).
It was a was a bit wet when we arrived with some rain falling. We set with the intention of starting at 4.30pm but the weather dictated otherwise. We eventually got going when things settled down.
We performed on a trailer parked up next to the pub which gave good views over the terrace. The weather didn’t dampen the spirits of the audience – the Man of Kent is lucky to have such resilient customers! We played our set and the audience enjoyed it and the great thing was that the weather changed and the sun came out at the end!
Graham and Alan did a sterling job on the rhythm section and were fun to play with too, so we thank them both!
We couldn’t hang about long because Neil and David had a RomantiX gig to get to in Rye, with David depping on bass!
All-in-all The Man of Kent is a classic pub, so try to get there if you’ve not been before. There’s a river running next to it and the building dates back to 1588, just mind your head on those beams!
